You can’t consider yourself a local in Ambleside till you have been to Buckstones apparently. Buckstones is a natural deep pool that can be found halfway up one of the near by becks. I was lucky enough to go for the first time this week and a had a good swim before I had to work.
I made the effort to make the walk and swim to Buckstones the next three days, I am pretty sure it played a large part to keeping my sanity whilst working in a pub. For the more daring there is a couple of superb jumps further down the beck, the highlight being a 30 foot drop from a waterfall into a narrow plunge pool.
